“Raised on a farm in Southeastern Wyoming, I learned work ethic, grit, and how to get things done.
Now, I’m running for State Assembly to take those values to Sacramento and deliver results for our community.
No more self-serving political agendas and partisan games. It’s time for real leadership and representation that puts people first.”
— Chris Shoults
Meet Chris Shoults
Lifelong Teacher | Union Leader | Father | Husband | Small Business Owner
Raised on a farm in Southeastern Wyoming, Chris began working at the age of 11, repairing machinery and caring for the land. He learned work ethic, grit, welding, mechanic’s skills, and stewardship early in life. Eventually, Chris put himself through college, becoming the first in his family to graduate, and earned two bachelor’s degrees in English & English Education from the University of Wyoming and later went on to earn a master’s degree in English.
He went on to teach at his hometown high school and became deeply involved in his community, serving on the planning commission and as a governor’s appointee to a state education committee.
Chris married his high school sweetheart, and became a father to three sons. When their middle son was born with a congenital heart defect and required surgery at five months old, Chris and his family struggled with the complex health insurance system.
The Shoults family moved to southwest Riverside County, where he has taught high school and college courses while also serving on the executive board of his union and as a member of the bargaining team. He and his wife also own and operate a small business in childcare.
Like many working families, Chris has gained first-hand experience with the issues that impact the most, from rising costs of living and an uncertain economy to healthcare and education. He’s running for State Assembly because he’s one of us and he’s ready to deliver for us. Acutely aware of the issues in education, the constant rise in cost of living, and the need to diversify economic development, Chris is ready to listen, roll up his sleeves, reach across the aisle to build bipartisan support, and get down to building a better tomorrow together.
